The Fillmore music curriculum for grades K-2 provides students the opportunity to explore the musical elements of beat, rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, dynamics, texture, tempo, and pitch across a wide range of hands on activities. To accomplish this students will participate in singing, instrument playing, movement activities, rhythmic games, and guided opportunities for improvisation.
The Fillmore music curriculum for grades 3-5 builds upon the foundational skills built in grade K-2. Students at this level can select from a range of activities that include orchestra, band, and guitar. These classes provide the opportunity to learn and develop skills necessary to play their chosen instruments and develop an enjoyment for playing and performing in a large ensemble. To achieve success students will require regular practice at home. All students in performing classes will have the opportunities to perform in winter and spring concerts. Additional performance opportunities, community events, and festivals may come up throughout the year.
